 Dr. Hirota earned a bachelor of science degree from The University of California at Los Angeles. He went on to medical school at Georgetown University, in Washington, D.C., graduating with honors.
During ten years of service with the U.S. Army, Dr. Hirota completed a residency program in internal medicine and a gastroenterology fellowship at The Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
He served as the chief of internal medicine at the Kimbrough Army Community Hospital and as a staff gastroenterologist at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma.
He is a Fellow of the Gastroenterology Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American College of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Hirota's award-winning research in gastroesophageal reflux disease has led to publication in major peer-reviewed medical journals.
